Turmeric hummus

I simply can’t get enough of this delicious Middle Eastern dip. Turmeric with vegetable sticks is my all time favourite snack. Although, the classical hummus is my favourite, I like playing around with different kinds of hummus such as beetroot hummus. This turmeric hummus is quite similar to the classical hummus, although it has a stronger flavour to it, because of the addition of turmeric, cumin and paprika. Turmeric is a spice much use in the Indian kitchen. Turmeric has such a nice vibrant colour to it and is both a powerful antioxidant and is anti- inflammatory.

Ingredients:

A tin of cooked chickpeas ( approximately 400 gram)

2tbsp tahini

6 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

2 gloves of garlic ( crushed).

3/4 tsp turmeric

½ tsp cumin

½ tsp paprika

The juice of ½ a lemon

salt

pepper

Method:

  1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas.
  2. Squeeze the lemon to collect the juice.
  3. Place all the ingredients in a food processor and blend until the desired consistency is achieved.
